This is one of the most rewarding opportunities I have ever had. Connected with peers and made wonderful connections with them. Got course exposure while working with the faculties. I believe tutoring helped me expertising the skills that I have learned in college. I got to learn about coding challanges from peers that probably would have never crossed my mind.
I learned to collaborate better in teams, I learned how to lead a learning process. I believe one of the rewarding challanges I faced while working in this position was helping freshmen who were feeling overwhelmed by computer programming.
This position was a valuable learning experience that enhanced my sense of responsibility, especially in high-pressure situations. I worked closely with my team to effectively coordinate events involving over a thousand participants simultaneously. Additionally, this role required me to take over the responsibilities typically handled by professional staff members outside of regular office hours.
One of the primary duties in this role was ensuring the smooth execution of all events within the building. I also had the crucial responsibility of responding to emergencies and promptly contacting the University Police Department when necessary. To be better prepared for such situations, I received CPR training as part of my preparation for this role.
While working as a Student Manager, I proposed creating a new website for the newly built Game Room at the Student Center to store, manage and visualize the usage frequency. Check out what I created here.
I enjoyed helping faculty and students with their E-learning platform issues and solving various software and networking problems. It was rewarding to see the relief on their faces when their tech troubles were fixed. I also worked on connecting IoT devices to our network, making sure everything ran smoothly.
I met my people here, where I could talk about my coding projects and only these people would understand my vision. I found partners for my projects and collaborated together to better showcase our skills.
In my role as an Outreach Director, I had the opportunity to engage with numerous Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and IT professionals, where my primary task was to persuade them to participate as guest speakers in our weekly sessions.
Data Science Club
Collaborating with other members, we explored machine learning and predictive analytics, and had speakers from Industry leading Tech Companies for our general meetings.
Business Analytics and IT
Being part of the Business Analytics and IT club was a great experience. We discussed real-world business problems using IT solutions, and I loved the collaborative environment where we shared knowledge and developed practical skills together.
WMU Fluid Power Club
Joining the WMU Fluid Power Club allowed me to explore the world of fluid dynamics and hydraulics. I gained a deeper understanding of fluid power systems and enjoyed connecting with fellow enthusiasts.
WMU E-Sports
WMU E-Sports was a blast. I participated in competitive gaming events, honed my strategic thinking and teamwork skills, and enjoyed being part of a vibrant community of gamers who shared my passion for e-sports.
Muslim Student Association
As a Muslim, this organization provided me with a sense of comfort and security, allowing me to openly discuss my beliefs and faith without being judged. I actively engaged in meetings to connect with fellow Muslim students on the campus and explore ways to help people in need around us. The presence of an Islamic Center on campus offered me the opportunity to collaborate with the committee in preparing and distributing Iftar meals, which mark the breaking of fast at sunset during the month of Ramadan. This experience not only enabled me to grow as an individual within society but also inspired me to contribute to the best of my abilities.
